A Catholic Brave Nun Sr. Ann Nu Tawng Mediates Violent Crackdown of Security Forces in Myitkyina Again

Yangon, Myanmar (GNJ): Sr. Ann Nu Tawng is mediating a standoff between protestors and army to avoid a bleeding situation of violent crackdown on peaceful protestors in Myitkyina city again at 8:00 a.m. of local time on 8 March. She already successfully did such brave intervention to the security forces not to shoot young demonstrators who are protesting peacefully on 28th February in Myitkyina city.
According to a person who refused to mention his name reported Gloria News Journal that police and military arrived to Aung Nang road which is in front of St. Columban’s Catholic Cathedral Church of Myitkyina diocese, where unarmed peaceful young protestors were gathering to start rallies against military coup. When they were gathering, security forces arrived the location and young people were scattered to many places. Most of young protestors ran inside the compound of the Cathedral. So police forces want to beat and arrest them in the compound. While having such efforts, Sr. Ann Nu Tawng arrived between security and protestors, was appealing police forces not to arrest and persecute peaceful protestors.
According to available pictures, Bishop Emeritus Francis Daw Tang and another nun were joining Sr. Ann Nu Tawng who is appealing security forces to protect lives of young protestors and to prevent the entrance of police forces inside the compound of the Cathedral.
After hours of standoff between the nun and security forces, according to local reliable news, the appeal of Sr. Ann Nu Tawng was rejected by army and police. Finally army and police started shooting unarmed protesting youth inside the compound of the Catholic Church and (2) young boys were killed and (7) persons injured by security forces.
